We are a specialized trading company dealing in aerospace and defense products originally established in 1975 as Nissho Iwai Aerospace Corporation, from a portion of the aviation division of the former Nissho Iwai Corporation. The merger of the former Nichimen Corporation with the former Nissho Iwai Corporation in 2004 creating Sojitz Corporation led to the changing of our name to Sojitz Aerospace Corporation, a new step forward as a specialized trading company under the Sojitz Group. Then, in April 2008, we merged with Sojitz Avisys Corporation, also a specialized trading company dealing in aircraft and security equipment in the Sojitz Group, in an effort to increase our product lineup and services so as to meet the various needs of our customers.
Our areas of business are varied, including civilian and military aircraft and their components, maritime vessels and equipment, land-based defense equipment, information-related hardware, equipment and space technologies, and security equipment, among others, with a diversified business model that boasts introduction of overseas technologies under license, import, export and domestic marketing of products and materials, investment in formulation and installation of logistics systems, and more. Our business bases are also expansive with 3 here in Japan, in the cities of Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, and 6 overseas, namely New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, St. Louis, Phoenix and London, all of which are closely interconnected to provide the latest market and product information and high value-added services to our valued customers both in Japan and overseas.
We at Sojitz Aerospace Corporation introduced a business division structure in 2009 in hopes of providing more meticulous services to our customers. We will continue to leverage to the fullest our network and business organizer functions and work to consistently provide services that will satisfy our customers.
